A ROOM OF ONES OWN By Virginia Wolf

This essay is written by Virginia wolf and it published on 24 October 1929.this was based on the lectures that she was delivered on her colleges.This essay  is genarally considered as a feminist essay.Woolf says that a woman who had ready for   write or produce a work then she must have her own room, financial setup and freedom.she says in nowadays the women's are not writing because the poverty and all the women have the capacity of William Shakespeare.woolf is speaking for women who have the opportunity for learn through this essay.Through this essay Woolf shows the importance of women's education.

 

In this essay she invent a new charecter Judith the shakespeare sister who had the equal capacity of her brother.but atlast she committed to suicide from the the man respected society.

in this essay Woolf constructed the historical and critical view of women writers.she examines the career of somany female writers including Aphra Behn, Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters,Ann finch,countess of Winchilsea and George Eliot.Woolf says their history and she says any female writers dont write their real life.They write only their initials.Virginia says the former female writers had not write their names on their work they write the men names, otherwise they will not publish.

Woolf then says about four Mary's they are Mary Beaton, Mary Seaton, Mary Carmichael and Mary hamilton.they reject their marraige proposal and motherhood and committed suicide  like virginia,s heroine Judith shakespeare.

In another section she says the work of  a fictional woman writer Mary carmichael. Woolf references the obcenity trial and public uproar resulting from publishing of Radycliff's halls the lesbian themed noval. Woolf is comfortable talk to women students because she feels   a women's college is safe  and essential place for discussing it.and woolf criticize some work like Alice walker.
